Thinking about being a venue for Leicester Comedy Festival or the UK Kids' Comedy Festival? The festival regularly includes over 650 performances and they take place in a range of venues from cathedrals, pub venues, museums, theatres, studio spaces to main halls. We're always looking for new venues to join us. In particular we'd love to hear from more accessible spaces, cafes and kid friendly venues.
There are many good reasons that you should take part in one of our festivals and we have put together a few steps to help get you started.
The first thing we recommend doing is making sure you actually have a suitable space to host live comedy. A dedicated space where there will be no interference from background noise such as the bar is essential.
Next you should work out how many audience members you can comfortably and safely seat in your space. Play around with different configurations of how you could seat your audience.
Testing, testing... yes that's right. It will be your responsibility to provide equipment for the comedians who come to perform at your venue. Unlike musicians, they don't travel with a microphone and PA System.
There are plenty of places to hire equipment from in Leicester, but you may also wish to invest in your equipment if you want to do this long term which might be cheaper for you long term.
Eventotron is a piece of online software that we use as a database for all all of our festival shows and venues. It is also our Box Office Provider. You can read more about Eventotron here.
A member of the festival team will need to register you on Eventotron. Once you have been registered, you will be sent an email that will take you to the Eventotron website where you can fill out your venue's profile.
